Power, Voltage, and Size: What Actually Matters
On a wood coating line, the UV dose has to be just right—enough to fully cure the topcoat, but not so much that you scorch the wood underneath. We spec our lamps for high irradiance, typically in the multi-kilowatt range, because that’s what it takes to deliver the photon density needed for fast curing. And we match the voltage to your system. Most industrial setups run on 400V, so you can wire the lamp straight into the existing fixture without re-engineering your power distribution. Length matters, too. We size the lamp to fit the curing zone footprint. If your line has a 300mm window, we give you a lamp that fills it completely and spreads the intensity evenly across the width. That’s how you avoid under-cured edges and keep the gloss consistent from board to board.
Built to Last: Quartz, Coating, and the Right Connection
Inside, the envelope is quartz. It handles the thermal shock and keeps the UV transmission strong, even under high power. The gallium iodide fill shifts the spectrum toward UVA, which is exactly what you want for surface-initiated curing of clear topcoats and wear layers. We also add a dedicated reflector coating on the quartz to push energy forward and cut down on stray heat. And the connector? We use the R7s interface because it’s proven in industrial work: it handles high current, holds alignment, and installs fast. It’s a drop-in replacement that clicks in and stays put—no wobble, no fuss. That means the arc stays stable, and you don’t have to chase little inconsistencies while the line is running.
What It Feels Like on a Flooring Line
On a wood flooring coating line, you’re running wide boards, tight schedules, and tough wear requirements. High-power UV lets you cure the topcoat faster, so the line keeps moving without slowing down for drying. The payoff is visible. The gloss holds. The surface resists scratches because the coating reaches full crosslink density. But here’s the part you have to plan for: heat. High-intensity UV brings serious IR and ambient heat. Your cooling system—airflow, reflector cooling, and overall thermal management—has to be sized to handle it. If the cooling is undersized, you risk overheating components and shortening lamp life.
